Twitter, Cliques, Drama... Oh MY! by @_wordy

Today we have a Guest Blogger :)  The Beautiful Vanessa or @_wordy on twitter.  Leave your feedback for her!

Degree of separation in the Lesbian community: ONE! One teeny tiny degree of separation. THANKS TWITTER!

Twitter has also created cliques… groups of people that MOSTLY only associate with each other leaving all others with their noses pressed against their monitors trying to get in on the action. These cliques are mostly noticeable in real life situations when the party moves from the internet to an actual function. It looks like the cafeteria in high school… everyone sectioned off and keeping to their own respective circles.
What’s that? You want in? In the famous words of Evelyn Lozada, "BITCH, YOU AIN’T IN THE CIRCLE!"
Now… let’s recap and go deeper...
Twitter has created ONE degree of separation within the Lesbian community Twitter has created both internet and real-life cliques Want to know what comes next?

DRAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Yes ladies and gents, please have popcorn on hand at all times because there is at least one Lesbian twitter catfight daily!  The drama usually starts like this:

Person A, who doesn’t know you, will say something about you to person B, who also doesn’t know you, but now feels like they do because Person A told them something about you. Person B will mostly likely share the information with Person C. Persons A, B and C now hate you and will join forces in subtweeting you in a fury. They will become enraged when you have noticed the aforementioned subtweets, and have either, A) called them out on it, or B) subtweeted them back.
And there you have the makings of the infamous TWITTER BEEF! Of course this is just one of many possible scenarios! I have often wondered what has been said about me by people that have never uttered a single word to me. I observed people I once spoke to frequently on twitter became distant after some tension between me and a mutual "friend" became public. I mean I could honestly care less… it’s just one of those things I have pondered in moments of pensiveness.

Twitter is an awesome tool for networking and making amazing connections. Social networks are NOT to blame for creating drama… the drama queens and kings are. They have just transferred their real-life drama filled existences to the World Wide Web!
Now here are some ways to avoid twitter beef/drama/nonsense:
  • Mind your damn business
  • Be social and friendly… mix it up and talk to different people.
  •  Don’t base your opinions of people, on other people’s opinions of people.
  •  Mind your damn business
  • Don’t fight other people’s battles
  • Keep private things private, no need to blast that you have a grievance with someone.
  •  Be an adult, communicate directly with people… subtweeting people and then getting mad that they noticed and subtweeted you back is just plain ridiculous
  • And finally, mind your damn business!
THE END.
